# Useful StitchIt functions

StitchIt provides the following useful tools (partial list)

* `stitchit.tools.writeSignedTiff` -- general-purpose signed TIFF writer
* `mergeChannels` -- Combine two channels to create a new one by adding them, subtracting then, dividing one from the other, etc.
* `stitchit.sampleSplitter` can be used to crop whole stacks to save disk space or to split up acquisitions where more than one sample was imaged.&#x20;
